August in Jamaica

We’ve been Busy!  August is the month that Jamaicans take time off – many of the teachers in our schools look forward to either a relaxing month, a time to catch up on household tasks, or to travel – often to ‘foreign’ meaning US or Canada to visit family and friends. August is also the month with two important national holidays – Emancipation Day and Independence Day. But, we are “Peace Corps” so we have found lots to do after summer school finished in July.
